25 August update

10 August 2008- Legion Rider's meeting note plan - We took a scenic ride to Linda’s Café in Palmertown for a breakfast meeting. Afterwards, we made a sojourn to the Clover Hill Winery in Breinigsville Pa.

On 23 August, The Colonel, King, Onestone, Puddles and Pokey participated in the American Legion Riders Post 391 Mine Hill Legion to Legion Poker Run. We had a fantastic, scenic NJ ride. All enjoyed the good food and great weather. We were glad to help out a Sister ALR.

14 September 2008- A Ride for Camelot. Lehigh Valley Star Touring and Riding Association Chapter 386, 1st Annual poker run and charity fund raising event. Proceeds benifit Camelot for Children. Start location is Tri-City Powersports in Allentown end location at Camelot for Children. Registration 9-11 am. $25/bike, passenger add $10. 20 September 2008 - Post 173 Tamaqua our regional post is having a run for our Local Hero’s The Hometown National Gaurd. For more info please contact me at sissco_kid@hotmail.com

20-21 September 2008 – wine tour with Lost Riders from Wind Gap Legion Post 724. King, Kye, Jazzman, Pokey and Colonel lining up for this ride.

26 September 2008-- York Harley Davidson Open House. We will be leave the Legion at 9 AM for a ride to Harley Davidson York, Pa. for their open house and tour of the plant. Bring a friend, we had a good time last year.

5 October 2008--ALR Free Cookout. Sponsored by the ALR Chapter 834 (located at 300 Yardley Ave Fallsington, Pa.) The cookout is for all Region 6 Riders to gives us an opportunity to meet and socialize. For more informaton call Holly at 215-431-8200 or Russ at 215-932-5965

19 October 2008- Kruise 4 Kids Poker Run. This is a rain or Shine Event. Departs from Scott Powersports, Route 309, Coopersburg, Pa ends at the Main Gate, Allentown Fairgrounds. $20/ rider, $10/passenger. For more information and to register on line at www. Kruise4kids.com

Post 588 American Legion Riders

We are a Chapter of the American Legion Riders based out of Easton, Pennsylvania. We are located at Rice-Ebner Post 588 which is at 423 Davis Street, Easton, PA 18042.

Membership in our Legion Riders post is open to anyone meeting ALR membership criteria...

Membership Requirements
The membership requirements for the American Legion Riders are very straightforward. To become a member, you must...

...be a current member in good standing of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion.
...be the owner of a motorcycle of at least 250cc engine displacement and must possess a valid driver's license in your state of residence (military equivalents acceptable as well) ~or~ must be the legal spouse of an ALR member in good standing within the Chapter of application.

To join the American Legion, you must have served at least one day on ACTIVE DUTY during any of these periods of conflict:
April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 (World War I)
December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (World War II)
June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955 (Korean War)
February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War)
August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984 (Lebanon/Grenada) December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990 (Operation Just Cause - Panama)*
August 2, 1990 to today (Operation Desert Shield/Storm/Iraqi Freedom)

A copy of your DD214 showing dates and character of service is required at application.

To join the SAL, you must be a male descendant (includes stepsons and adopted sons but does not include in-laws) of...
...a member of The American Legion
...or a Veteran who died in service during any of the qualifying periods of conflict listed above
...or of a Veteran who served during one of the qualifying periods of conflict, was honorably discharged, and died subsequent to their service
A copy of The American Legion membership card or DD214 of the Veteran through whom you are qualified is required at application.

To join the Auxiliary, you must be a woman who...
...is eligible for membership in The American Legion
...or is the mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion
...or is the mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the listed war periods
...or is a step relative to a qualified or deceased veteran.

Note that, as with the SAL, in-law relatives to the qualified Veteran are not eligible for membership.

A copy of The American Legion membership card or DD214 of the Veteran through whom you are qualified is required at application.
