Post 588 American Legion Riders located in Easton,
Pa is hosting our 2nd Annual Poker Run with the Hokendaqua ALR
Post 739 on Saturday, 20 June 2009 — Rain or Shine.

Poker Run will commence at the Rice-Ebner Post 588
Legion Post at 423 Davis Street, Easton, Pa

Sign up and issue of Poker Run entry Card and first card draw
Would be completed at the Easton post. Individual departure to
Complete route 10:00-12:00 hrs. Last departure from Post 588
Is at 12:30pm.

Final stop is at the Hokendaqua Post 739, 3154 Front St in
Hokendaqua.

Distance is approximately 65 miles to all stops. Cost is $20 per Rider and $15 per passenger.

Donation covers entry, beer, soda, food and prize drawings for all participants at the Hokendaqua Post.

DJ “That CD Guy” will be playing and door prizes will be held at the
Hokendaqua Post as well as prizes for Poker run winners.

Proceeds benefit American Legion Riders chapters that are active in supporting veteran and soldier support activities, including soldiers serving overseas currently, and providing veteran’s facilities visits and programs that comfort aging veteran’s in Eastern Pennsylvania.

"KUTZ" said...: I just wanted to say “Thank You” for the generous care package sent to my son in Iraq. It was a wonderful gesture.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to do the poker-run, but will make a donation.

My son & I are both Legionnaires at Wind Gap’s Post 724 and members of the Lost Riders.

We will be down when he gets home.

Post 588 American Legion Riders

We are a Chapter of the American Legion Riders based out of Easton, Pennsylvania. We are located at Rice-Ebner Post 588 which is at 423 Davis Street, Easton, PA 18042.

Membership in our Legion Riders post is open to anyone meeting ALR membership criteria...

Membership Requirements
The membership requirements for the American Legion Riders are very straightforward. To become a member, you must...

...be a current member in good standing of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion.
...be the owner of a motorcycle of at least 250cc engine displacement and must possess a valid driver's license in your state of residence (military equivalents acceptable as well) ~or~ must be the legal spouse of an ALR member in good standing within the Chapter of application.

To join the American Legion, you must have served at least one day on ACTIVE DUTY during any of these periods of conflict:
April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 (World War I)
December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (World War II)
June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955 (Korean War)
February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War)
August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984 (Lebanon/Grenada) December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990 (Operation Just Cause - Panama)*
August 2, 1990 to today (Operation Desert Shield/Storm/Iraqi Freedom)

A copy of your DD214 showing dates and character of service is required at application.

To join the SAL, you must be a male descendant (includes stepsons and adopted sons but does not include in-laws) of...
...a member of The American Legion
...or a Veteran who died in service during any of the qualifying periods of conflict listed above
...or of a Veteran who served during one of the qualifying periods of conflict, was honorably discharged, and died subsequent to their service
A copy of The American Legion membership card or DD214 of the Veteran through whom you are qualified is required at application.

To join the Auxiliary, you must be a woman who...
...is eligible for membership in The American Legion
...or is the mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion
...or is the mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the listed war periods
...or is a step relative to a qualified or deceased veteran.

Note that, as with the SAL, in-law relatives to the qualified Veteran are not eligible for membership.

A copy of The American Legion membership card or DD214 of the Veteran through whom you are qualified is required at application.
